Getting your Bank Islam statement out of GO by Bank Islam
Log in to GO by Bank Islam and open the statement or e-statement section for the account you want. Pick the month you need and download the PDF rather than screenshotting the transaction list on screen — the PDF carries the full month, the opening and closing balances, and the account details the conversion needs to reconcile.
If you only have a printed Bank Islam statement, a clear photo works too. Lay it flat, get the whole page in frame, and avoid shadows across the middle of the table. We read scans and photos with AI vision, and the same arithmetic check runs on the result.
Statements downloaded straight from online banking convert most accurately, because the text is already in the file and nothing has to be recognised from an image.
What you get back
An Excel (.xlsx) file and a CSV with one row per transaction: date, description, reference, debit, credit and running balance. The columns are named consistently regardless of which bank the statement came from, which is the point — you can drop a Maybank month and a CIMB month into the same sheet without re-mapping anything.
That matters most if you are doing bookkeeping across accounts, preparing a loan or visa application that asks for six months of statements, or reconciling a business account where the bank's own export is not offered.
Every number is checked before you see it
The conversion is not finished when the rows come out. We re-run the arithmetic: opening balance, plus every credit, minus every debit, should equal the closing balance — and it is checked row by row, not just at the end.
If a row does not reconcile, it is flagged in the validation summary instead of being quietly passed through. That is the difference that matters with financial data: an OCR tool that reads 1,000.00 as 100.00 will hand you a clean-looking sheet with a wrong total. Ours will tell you the running balance stopped adding up at row 42.
You should still spot-check the output before relying on it. The check catches transcription errors; it cannot catch a statement that was wrong to begin with.
Common problems, and what to do
Password-protected PDF: many Malaysian banks lock e-statements with your IC number or date of birth. Open it in any PDF reader with the password, then re-save or print to PDF without the password before uploading.
Multi-account statements: if the PDF contains several accounts, the conversion covers all of them, but check the account column so you do not mix them in your books.
Format not recognised: layouts change when a bank redesigns its statements. If the conversion looks wrong, tell us which bank and roughly what went wrong and we will add support — adding a new Bank Islam layout usually takes a few days.
Very old statements: scans from the 2010s are often low-resolution and the AI vision path struggles with them. A rescan at 300 dpi usually fixes it.
Where your statement goes
The file is processed in memory and automatically deleted within 15 minutes. We do not store the statement or the transaction data it contains, and we never use it to train anything. What we keep is your account email and your remaining conversion credits — nothing from inside the document.
There is one exception, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it: if your bank's layout is not recognised yet, the file may be forwarded securely to our team so support for that format can be added. Email us if you would rather that did not happen and we will delete it.
Payment, if you buy credits, is handled by HitPay. Card and banking details are entered on their systems, not ours.
What it costs
Every new account gets 10 free conversions. After that, credit packs start at RM10 for 50 conversions and do not expire, or a monthly plan starts at RM19 for 100 conversions a month.
A conversion is counted per statement processed. If one fails because of a fault on our side, the credit is not consumed.
